Construction Superintendent

Applicants shall have a baccalaureate degree in engineering/architecture and/or construction related field from an accredited college or university and eight (8) years of full time experience as a technical specialist in construction and design-related fields; four (4) years must have involved managing all phases of construction work on a scale and scope similar to the Work envisioned under this Agreement; or an Associate degree from an accredited college or university and ten (10) years of full time experience; or a comparable combination of education and experience; Shall have a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel between boroughs; Shall have the ability to understand and interpret contract documents such as specifications, drawings and shop drawings; Shall have experience in new and renovation type construction. MEP experience preferred.

This position will be working on various SCA Emergency projects and with various trades. Applicants must also be willing to have a flexible schedule including availability for night shifts and some weekends.

Assistant Construction Superintendent

Applicants shall have a baccalaureate degree in engineering/architecture and/or construction related field from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of full time progressively responsible work as a technical specialist in the construction and design related fields; two (2) years must involve the management of all phases of construction work on multiple projects; or an Associate Degree with seven (7) years of experience; or a comparable combination of education or experience; Shall have a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel between boroughs; Shall have the ability to understand and interpret contract documents such as specifications, drawings and shop drawings; Shall have experience in new and renovation type construction. MEP experience preferred.

Administrative / Document Control Specialist

Applicants shall have a High School Diploma or G.E.D. and have a maximum of three (3) years experience as an administrative assistant or document control clerk with a CM or a construction organization, or an Associate degree from an accredited college and one (1) year experience as an administrative assistant or document control clerk with a CM or a construction organization; and shall have a working knowledge of computer software systems, e.g., Excel, Word, DOS.

Project Manager

Project Manager positions are available for public projects, including healthcare, schools and MTA. Projects include new construction as well as renovation work in occupied facilities. Responsibilities include overall management of project team, coordination with owner, A/E and contractors. Must be well versed in scheduling, change order management and general administrative obligations typically required of public agencies. Experience with large scale, medium high rise, and phased construction is required.  This individual must be able to comprehend all disciplines of drawings and specifications and interpret contract requirements. 
BS in Engineering or RA preferred

Project Engineer

Project Engineer positions available for public projects. Responsible for review of contractors drawings and specs, liaison between contractor and architect, review RFIs, track and expedite submittals, review and distribute design bulletins, coordinate permitting issues, update and track project schedule & contract closeout. Health care facilities experience a plus. Working knowledge of E-builder a plus.

Change Order Manager

The Change Order Manager will be responsible for analyzing and processing change orders for public works projects. Must be organized, have ability to perform comparative estimates, and negotiate final costs. Excellent writing skills and working knowledge of Excel is required.

General and Area Superintendents

The General Superintendent will report to the Senior Project Manager, and have overall responsibility to oversee and manage the contractors in performance of their work on the project.   The General Superintendent must possess at least 10 years experience in construction and exhibit the ability to give direction to and coordinate work activities among Contractors, Sub-contractors and Facility.  General Superintendent experience with large scale, medium high rise, and phased construction is required.  This individual must be able to comprehend all disciplines of drawings and specifications and interpret contract requirements.

The duties and responsibilities of this position include:

  • Give clear direction to contractors and trades persons in the field
  • Plan and sequence daily work activities and material deliveries
  • Anticipate and resolve problems
  • Monitor and maintain project schedule
  • Compile daily reports
  • Manage inspection, testing and approvals of work-in-progress and documentation of same
  • Ensure quality of work
  • Understand and implement safety controls
  • Review and approve payment applications
  • Manage support staff (area supers/inspectors, etc.)

Area Superintendents must have a minimum of 5 years experience with similar management and organizational skills, and will report to the General Superintendent. Knowledge of e-Builder a plus.
