TDX Construction Corporation provided construction management services during the pre-construction and construction phases of this project, which included the consolidation of two separate campuses at a new 204-acre site. The existing site required substantial abatement of asbestos and removal of PCB contaminated transformers/switches prior to the demolition of select buildings and renovation of the remaining 14 buildings for classroom, offices and maintenance use. Five additional new buildings were constructed to accommodate 1,120,000 GSF of academic and support space including a student center, a library, laboratory buildings, sports and performing arts centers and a new central plant.
Indoors, the Sports & Recreation Center houses a 1,200 seat arena, serving as the home of men’s and women’s basketball and women’s volleyball programs. Along with its main gymnasium, the facility is also equipped with an auxiliary gymnasium, which features indoor batting cages along with practice space for every intercollegiate team.
An eight-lane swimming pool features one and three meter diving boards. Indoor facilities also include two separate fitness centers containing free weight and cardiovascular equipment, a complete athletic training station, and five glass racquetball courts.
Outdoor facilities adjacent to the Sports & Recreation Center include six-domed and six-outdoor tennis courts for tennis programs. A 2,500-seat baseball complex, former home to the Staten Island Yankees, is home to the men’s baseball program
